Farah Jasmine Griffin Named University Professor, June 30, 2025

I am honored to announce that Farah Jasmine Griffin, the William B. Ransford Professor of English and Comparative Literature and of African American Studies, has been appointed University Professor—the highest academic distinction Columbia confers on our own faculty. Read more.

An Update from Acting President Shipman on Our Commitment to Combatting Antisemitism, May 23, 2025

Last night, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Education, under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, announced that they had determined that Columbia had violated Title VI in connection with our actions in response to harassment of Jewish students since October 7, 2023.
