I am writing to provide an update on the progress of two pending proposals regarding Columbia University’s investments: divestment from companies engaged in the operation of private prisons and divestment from fossil fuels.

I write to tell you that our Senior Executive Vice President, Robert Kasdin, will be leaving Columbia at the end of June to become the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore. 

I am pleased to announce my appointment of Ann D. Thornton as University Librarian and Vice Provost.
