Precision Medicine and Data Science have become essential to Columbia’s future. We have only just begun to unlock the vast potential of data analysis to transform and improve the lives of millions of people. At the Center for Precision Dental Medicine, we take a huge leap toward realizing that potential.
Thanks to the vision of Dean Christian Stohler, Columbia is bringing dental medicine into the 21st century in singular ways. At the heart of the School’s mission is an understanding that dentistry is deeply connected to overall patient health and has much to contribute to a comprehensive approach to personalized medical care.
Today, as we dedicate the College of Dental Medicine’s beautiful new “wired operatory,” a clinic that will largely serve our neighbors in Upper Manhattan, we celebrate three of Columbia’s core values: creativity, innovation, and community. Dental medicine, along with the medical landscape, is changing rapidly. With the advancements exhibited in this new clinic, Columbia is building the future of dentistry.
The above statement was read on behalf of President Bollinger at the reception for the opening of the Center for Precision Medicine.
