Like all of you, I have been following the horrific news of the tragedy in Buffalo, NY with anger, revulsion, and heartache. At this moment when we, as a university community, have been doing so much to understand anti-Black racism, to find ways to address it, and to prepare future generations to establish a more just society, this is a painful reminder that tragedy will continue despite our best efforts.
