This morning, the Department of Homeland Security entered a Columbia Residential building and detained a student. We are working to gather more information, working to reach the family, and providing legal support.

Melissa D. Begg will be stepping down from her role as dean of the Columbia School of Social Work as of August 31, 2026.

We are delighted to share the appointment of Jonathan Mermin, MD, MPH, as the next Dean of the Mailman School of Public Health.

Since late yesterday, we have watched in grief and horror as events unfolded in Providence.

Today, we’re publishing the fourth and final report from Columbia’s Task Force on Antisemitism, focused on the classroom experience.

Last week, outside of our gates, one of our students was involved in a deeply troubling and frightening situation.

Being part of our community means being part of something bigger—in the world and right here in New York City.

Many of you have expressed interest, in recent months, in our ongoing advocacy with lawmakers, and in our joint efforts with other institutions.

I write to share the wonderful news that I have appointed Dr. Melanie Bernitz as Executive Vice President for University Life and Wellbeing.

Today, we are releasing the University’s financial results for fiscal year 2025 (July 1, 2024-June 30, 2025) and performance results for the University’s endowment during the same period.

We are pleased to share the appointment of Dennis A. Mitchell as the next Dean of the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.

With the fall semester well underway and midterms approaching, I want to take a moment to reflect on an integral part of our community at Columbia: our international students and scholars.
